Crochet Stole in Openwork Pattern

Stole takes about 12 ounces Wonoco Yarn Company's Sport Yarn using a size F hook


To beg, ch 11.

Row 1: Dc in 5th ch from hook, ch 2, sk 2 ch (thread over, insert hook into next ch, draw up lp) 3 times, thread over and through 7 lps on hook (cluster), ch 2, cluster in same st, ch 2, cluster in same st (3 cluster group), ch 2, sk 2 ch, (dc, ch 1, dc) in last ch, ch 5, turn.

Row 2: In first ch 1 sp work 3 cluster group, ch 3 (dc, ch 1, dc) in top of center cluster of group, ch 3, 3 cluster group under turning ch - 2 cluster groups in row, ch 5, turn.


Row 3: (Dc, ch 1, dc) in center cluster of group, ch 3, 3 cluster group in center of ch 1 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in center cluster of group, ch 2, dc in 4th ch of turning ch - 1 cluster group in row, ch 5, turn.

Row 4: dc in first dc, ch 3, 3 cluster group in next ch 1 sp, ch 3 (dc, ch 1, dc) in center cluster of group, ch 3, 3 cluster group in next ch 1 sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 1, dc) in 4th ch of turning ch - 2 cluster groups in row, ch 5, turn.

Row 5: 3 cluster group in first ch 1 sp, * ch 3, (dc , ch 1, dc) in center cluster of next group, ch 3, 3 cluster group in next ch 1 sp, rep from * end ch 3, 3 cluster group under turning ch, ch 2, dc in 4th ch of turning ch - 3 cluster groups in row, ch 5, turn.

Row 6: (Dc, ch 1, dc) in center cluster of first group, *ch 3, cluster group in next ch 1 sp, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in center cluster of next group, rep from * end ch 2, dc in 4th ch of turning ch - 2 groups in row, ch 5, turn.

Row 7: Dc in first dc, ch 3, cluster group in first ch 1 sp, * ch 3, (dc, ch 1, dc) in center cluster of next group, ch 3, cluster group in next ch 1 sp, rep from *, end ch 2 (dc, ch 1, dc) in 4th ch of turning ch, 3 groups in row, ch 5, turn.

Rep rows 5, 6, and 7 until piece measures approximately 35 inches from foundation ch, measuring at center. 

Do not fasten off.
From right side, sc around, spacing sts to keep edges flat, join with a sl st, fasten off, block.
Fringe: wrap yarn around a 9 inch cardboad. Cut yarn at one end. Fold 2 strands in half. Draw fold through first sc on a shorter edge, draw all 4 cut ends through fold. Knot fringe in each sc on both shorter edgees.
